Fountain County Quarantined To Stop Hoof and Mouth Spread
A county wide quarantine is set in Fountain County after cattle from Chicago stock yards moved through the area amid a hoof and mouth scare. Farmers form a 150 strong organization with head D C Reed and secretary Russell Allen to enforce measures. Delegates from townships will prevent stock from entering or leaving, burn hay and straw from infected districts, and quarantine dogs and hunting. Pigeon Day will see pigeons killed to curb disease. county commissioners back the plan and enforce a strict quarantine. The origin of the spread is linked to hog cholera virus traced to Chicago Union Stock Yards.

Death of Mrs Richardson 65 in Fulton Township
Mrs Anna Richardson age 65 wife of Wilson Richardson of Fulton township died Wednesday at her daughter Mrs David Pavey in Covington. She had been in poor health two years and died after a critical illness. Funeral held near Coal Creek with burial in a local cemetery. She leaves nine children and her husband.

Veedersburg resident Elbert Gillis died at home after a fall at the Veedersburg Power factory. He slipped while setting brakes and was crushed by tracks. Death of Preston Rowlett Brings Quiet Reflection to Klingman
Obituary recounts the life of Preston Rowlett born May 17 1858 in Claiborne County Tennessee who died November 5 1914 in Kingman Indiana. He lived in Rantoul Ill West Lebanon Ind and Kingman where he worked as a blacksmith and in railroad service. Married Mary Elizabeth Hanson December 11 1879 with eight children. He was active in Knights of Pythias and Masonic Fraternities and remembered as honest charitable and family devoted. Funeral services were held at his home and he was buried in the Fraternal cemetery north of town.
