Cates Lad Injured in Run Away
William Woodrow son of John Woodrow living near Cates sustained serious injuries Monday afternoon when a team he was working with ran away. Both bones in his right leg were broken along with numerous bruises and cuts. Dr Wier of Cates and Cuthbert of this place treated the wounds and reported a favorable outlook for recovery.

Freak chicken hatches with extra legs in town
Edgar Ephlin reports a freak chicken hatched in the east part of town on late Friday. The chick had four fully developed legs with an extra pair behind its natural legs. The extra legs were well formed but smaller and the feet were normal. Despite efforts to feed it, the chick died a few days later.

Meeker Retired From Ministry Amid Missouri Locally Noted Rift

Accident Near Cayuga Brings Injury to Woman
Mrs Fern Hoover formerly Nora Turner and her sister Bernice Turner were in a buggy accident crossing the Wabash bottoms levy near Cayuga. The horse bolted the buggy stood overturned but the horse remained uninjured. Mrs Hoover sprained an arm while Bernice Turner escaped unharmed.

Manley Lindley Dies Suddenly at 67 in Cates
Manley Lindley of Cates, brother of Irvin Lindley, died Wednesday morning after being found semi conscious in a corn crib while doing barn chores. He was 67, survived by his wife and two children, and died before medical help arrived.
