David W Sanders Ilness Report From Indianapolis Hotel

County Clerk Roy Sanders reports his brother David W Sanders is critically ill at the Stubbins hotel in Indianapolis with kidney trouble. Doctors say recovery is unlikely as gangrene develops and his condition remains grave. Sanders, a noted author and educator, has influenced Indiana civic and educational circles.

A Pleasant Birthday Surprise

Last Saturday for Guy Mc Masters 14th birthday his parents organized a surprise with guests including G C Wilhite Claude Dotson Fred Dotson Lonnie Simpson Fred Ratcliff John Maskel Russell Mann Glenn Campbell Elbert Edith Ino and Clay Ramsey John Bower Ruth Bower. Refreshments of candy fruit and cake were served. Everyone had a splendid time and wished him many more birthdays.

Precinct 3 Redistricted in Millcreek Township

County Commissioners approved redistricting of Precinct No 3 in Millcreek township with the line running from C E I Ry to First street Kingman then south to Parke County. East half keeps old Precinct 3. west half becomes new Precinct No 3 with a yet unnamed voting place. Overcrowding at the last general election prompted this change.

Bruises and Blows Fall On Robt Steinbaugh

The report details a string of mishaps to Robt Steinbaugh beginning Oct 10 when a cartridge exploded injuring his right cheek just below the eye. He later received stitches after being kicked in the head and also fell from a hay mow. A snowball later struck his left eye, with Dr Wert planning a plaster for his head.

Clarence a dark brown Percheron stallion registered and shown at T. M. Jackson’s barn after Jack son purchased him early this week. Fulton Draft Horse Co. stock will also be at Jackson’s barn next season. Clarence Thompson and wife visited from near Silverwood. Wealthy Fountain County Banker Dies at 87 in Covington

Sampson Reed, prominent banker and one of Fountain County’s wealthiest men, died at his Covington home after months of illness. He was president of Citizens Bank, valued near 400000 dollars, with no children. His lengthy will names numerous relatives and bequests, including bank stock, cash, and land, with executors and beneficiaries spanning siblings, nieces, and nephews. Funeral services were held March 8, 1911 at Bethel church with Rev. Jackson Marshall officiating.

Osborn born April 1 1826 in Orange County North Carolina died March 7 1912 aged 85 years 11 months and 6 days son of Jesse and Nancy Osborn moved with family to Parke County Indiana later Fountain County joined United Brethren church and volunteered for service in 1861 after initial rejections.

Obituary for Huston M. Rudd Civil War veteran and preacher

Huston M. Rudd born September 6 1840 died March 10 1912 aged 71 years 6 months 4 days. He married Amy Kirkman in 1862 and had ten children six living, 19 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He served in the Civil War with two honorable discharges and remarried Haynes Riger in 1896. A convert since 27 years, he joined the Free People of God at Sugar Grove Chapel in 1898 and was a steady Christian. Funeral held at his grandson’s home in Portertown Rev A M Tomlinson officiating with interment in Eugene cemetery.

Cornelius Donaldson 81 Dies Suddenly at Home in Covington

Cornelius Cain Donaldson died peacefully at his Covington home last Sunday evening after a brief decline. A Fountain County pioneer, he had lived his entire life in the county seat area. He leaves a widow and six children, four sons and two daughters.

Carter Sues For Divorce After 26 Years Of Marriage

Joseph M Carter of Fulton township files for divorce from Amanda Carter formerly Amanda Kiger after 26 years of marriage. He alleges cruel and inhuman treatment and false accusations of infidelity, alleging she spoke harshly and ignored him for weeks. He claims he provided substantial money and property, and that she now lives with her son in a home he supplied.

Wabash Train Wreck Near West Lebanon Claims Lives

A passenger wreck southeast of West Lebanon at 1 PM on Thursday killed two women and injured over fifty passengers. Ollie Copeland of this place was badly hurt with a broken nose head gash broken ribs and other bruises but is expected to recover with care. His wife James Copeland and daughter Mrs. G L Cory visited him in hospital as reports indicate steady improvement.

Tambetti Percheron Stallion Draws Local Attention

Tambetti a three year old black Percheron stallion bought by Jas. B. Marks and Albert Fisher arrived Saturday. Sired by Guillaume with dam Souris, he will stand the 1912 season in the owners’ vicinity and drew much interest from local horsemen on the streets. The notice also includes local ads and various notices from March.
