A Cayuga Light Plant Co representative attended the Kingman town board meeting and filed a franchise for lighting the town. Action likely at the next regular meeting the first Monday in April. The paper urges legal voters to study the proposal, noting it would provide electric light at a reasonable cost from Cayuga.
Judge Samuel R. Artman of Boone Circuit Court holds Indiana liquor license law unconstitutional. He cites numerous state supreme court decisions in support. The decision was printed as a pamphlet by Patriot Publishers in Indianapolis for five cents per copy or ten for 30 cents.
A Ningman town board meeting approved a one month school extension with plans for about six weeks of high school activity on an assessment basis. An auction at Rev. Vessells parsonage features household items including an organ stove dining set and more.
Beulah Glastock Mendenhall of Ridgefarm receives twin telegrams about dying grandfathers Ratcliff and Glascock. She rushes to Kingman to comfort Ratcliff but both grandfathers die within days. A separate public record notes a Justice of the Peace bungling a marriage ceremony.
Chas Rateliff, living three miles west of Fangier, visited Lafayette Tuesday and bought a dark iron gray Percheron stallion from Crouch and Son. The five year old, 2230 pound horse is described as well built with good bone. The buyer paid 2000 dollars and is proud of the purchase.
County Clerk Madden reports four marriages licensed: Lee Van Reed Little and Mary Wisert, Glenn H. Marquess and Emma Lavane Lawson, James F. Trobaugh and Clara E. Smith, Clayton W. Blythe and Harriet M. Jones.
James A. Copeland Notary Public reports pro per mortgage exemption blanks prepared by his attorney for proper filing. Time for filing runs from March 1 to April 1. Levi Irwin and his daughter visit relatives in Lafayette for a few days starting Tuesday.
Numerous short items show residents purchasing Easter attire, visiting Covington, and moving homes. Local sales by Claud Madden and Johnson & Co. highlight spring goods and new ads. Community events include receptions for A G Madden, a phonograph show by Harry Youngblood, and a large Tangier sale.
