Obituary for Sylvester Wright Russell of Parke County Indiana
Sylvester Wright Russell born September 9, 1850 at Sylvania Parke County Indiana was the second son of John M. and Caroline Russell. He married Eunice D. Lindley in 1872 and had five children Isy Osa Leise Ina Thaine. After his wife died he cared for his children and lived with them in the old home. He died January 19 1914 after years of heart trouble while living a life of honesty and Christian faith. He left surviving his mother two brothers and one sister and four younger children all married and cared for him in his final years.

Depot Fire Destroys Clover Leaf Office at Tate
The Clover Leaf depot at Tate burned Sunday night from an unknown origin, consuming all records and files. A Wednesday high school play drew a large crowd and many praised it as the best locally produced by home talent. Gate receipts were about 60 dollars.

About 300000 Indiana students participated in a statewide TB writing contest organized by the Indiana Society for the Prevention of Tuberculosis and the State Board of Education. Teachers received a story on tuberculosis and students wrote about the plague. prizes include ribbons bronze medals and gold and silver medals to top compositions. A prize commission will meet in February to announce winners.

Ratcliff Pioneer Passes After Long Service and Family Life
Thomas R. Ratcliff born 1834 in Sugar Creek Indiana died 1914 at his son Miles A Ratcliff’s home Fountain County aged 79. He married Juliette Gray in 1857 and later Mary Jeane in 1876. He and his families helped clear virgin timber and build a homestead while earning a county commissioners post for nine years. Funeral services were held at Miles A Ratcliff’s home conducted by Rev Levi Woody and interment followed at Kacyo cemetery.
