William L. Grimes of Wallace died last Sunday after a two week illness. He was 71 years 2 months and 26 days old and is survived by his wife of nearly fifty years, two sons A B and C B Grimes proprietors of Grimes Bros. store, a granddaughter Mrs Hattie Starnes, a great grandson Willie Grimes, a great granddaughter Lois Starnes, and many other relatives. One daughter preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 10 30 with interment in the Lutheran cemetery east of Wallace.

The Anti-Saloon League asserts persistence of dry conditions across Indiana. It lists 29 of 92 counties without saloons and 27 of 94 cities dry, plus about 300 of 360 incorporated towns. It notes 1 015 townships with 835 dry and estimates 1 600 000 people live in areas without licensable saloons. Over 2 600 saloons closed by legislation, about 1 600 never reopened.
