Veedersburg Citizen Jonathan VanDorn Dies Suddenly
Jonathan B. VanDorn, a prominent Veedersburg resident and pioneer Coal Creek settler, died suddenly of heart disease at his home. He immigrated from Pennsylvania with his parents as a child and leaves a widow five sons and many friends. Funeral services were held Monday with burial at Mt Hope Cemetery near Covington.

Local Telephone Manager Undergoes Appendicitis Operation
H. J McAlister, manager of the local telephone company, had an appendicitis operation at his home yesterday afternoon. Dr. E. D. Clark of Indianapolis led the surgery with Dr. F. S. Cuthbert assisting. McAlister recovered from the ether and all signs point to a safe and speedy recovery. friends will be glad to hear.

Rhodes Gets Off Easy After Plea and Sentence
George Dusty Rhodes pleaded guilty to petit larceny in Covington. Judge Schoonover imposed an intermediate sentence of one to eight years with a $1 fine and a one year license suspension, suspended on good behavior. Rhodes, a farm hand, promised to reform and may seek work in Minnesota with ex Sheriff Bob Wherr.

Sheriff’s First Arrest for Wife Desertion in Pine Village
Sheriff Van Martin made his first arrest by serving a warrant on Clarence Hambright in Pine Village for wife desertion. Hambright pled not guilty before Judge Schoonover, bond set at $500, he posted and was released. He claims his wife left him. trial to be held in circuit court.

Hon Enos H Nebeker a noted Fountain county politician and early Republican reformer died Monday at 1 am after a brief illness. Born June 23 1836 near Covington he rose from local clerkship to Fountain county treasurer in 1870 then served as U S treasurer under Harrison. Survived by widow and two children services held at home with Rev E A Strecker, burial Mt Hope Covington.
