P G Smith Wins Big at Terre Haute Poultry Show
P G Smith entered Rhode Island Red chickens at Terre Haute last week and won multiple prizes. He took first in single comb breeding pen and rose comb cock, second and third in rose comb pen, plus silver cups for best single comb pen and best young single comb pen. The judge praised Terre Haute reds as superior to New York’s. Smith plans Attica to defend his winnings next week.

Barker Boy Undergoes Operation for Empyema
Maurice Barker eleven son of Mr and Mrs John Barker of the northeast area underwent surgery Monday for empyema in the pleural cavity. Dr Paul Barcus Crawfordsville led the procedure with Dr Caplinger Wallace and Dr F S Cuthbert assisting. A portion of a rib was removed to reach the cavity and a drainage tube inserted to allow the pus to drain. He was reported improving nicely at last update.
