More Check Forgers In Attica County Court
C W Coffeen and J J Penrod were jailed by Mayor Reed of Attica on a charge of knowingly uttering forged checks. Coffeen cashed a $10 check at a local shoe store and Penrod a $10 50 check at a Mill street saloon. both drawn on The Farmers and Merchants Bank of Attica and refused. Penrod was brought from Danville. Both pleaded not guilty, waived preliminary exam, and posted no bail before being sent to Covington to await circuit court.
