Kingman roars into the holiday season with the biggest Christmas attire in its history. Merchants have stocked up, advertising floods the Star, and extra pages were issued to showcase holiday goods. Stores near decoration completion invite readers to visit and buy, with bundles ready for delivery and a festive shopping atmosphere for all ages.
The primary and intermediate departments continue in the old Kingman building. The advisory board meets Friday to consider an appropriation for a new building. If approved the old building stays in use. if not, it may be closed and funds sought by force. Trustee Lawson is expected to ensure school maintenance.
Kingman High School opens basketball season with Hillsboro High School in the Kingman opera house Friday evening Dec. 15. Spectators urged to attend and cheer the team as they strive for a winning score. Ladies free with gentleman, general 25c, unaccompanied ladies 15c. Boys invited to attend.
John Massey of Mellott was badly burned when he lit a coal oil fire. Believing it out he added more oil and the resulting gas exploded as he struck a match, according to the Newtown Enterprise.
Floyd Huxford a 17 year old freshman at Clinton High School was fatally wounded when a loaded muzzle loader discharged while Harry Allen reloaded after shooting a rabbit. The accident occurred about 11 30 am on the Evans farm near Florida Township. Floyd died en route to St Anthony’s Hospital Terre Haute. Funeral Sunday at the family home with burial in Christian Cemetery Clinton. He is survived by his parents two brothers Ivan and Bryan and two sisters Dilla and Tilla Rockville.

Edgar Ephlin and Miss Hallie Keller were united in marriage at the home of Rev. R V Johnson last Wednesday at 6 oclock. The bride is the daughter of John Keller and is among Kingsmans esteemed young women. The groom is an industrious young man with good habits. A legion of friends join The Star in wishing them a long and happy life.
Earl Towell born August 31 1883 Plainfield Indiana died November 25 1911 aged 28 years 3 months 24 days. He aided his father in work and cared for his mother and siblings in Indianapolis Arkana Ohio. Funeral services were held November 28 at his home in Indianapolis and at the Friends church in Plainfield with Rev Levi Woody. He leaves two brothers Roy and Laverne and three sisters Bertha Jones Lena Alice and Mable Hunt living in Indianapolis except Mable in Arkona Ohio. Burial followed in Plainfield cemetery.
The Kingman council met Monday night in regular session. They pass an ordinance forbidding crossing a sidewalk or crossing with flanged wheel vehicles without a running board. The crosswalk and street paving plans received limited attention. The outgoing board will hand over to the new board on January 1, 1912. Town Clerk Ratcliff sought December funds in Covington but distribution is delayed until the 15th.
Indiana campaign leaders report rapid growth with 250 cities active and 500 more to mobilize. About 2,000,000 seals are in circulation as Indianapolis coordinates shipments and marketing for the anti tuberculosis Christmas seal drive through January.

Word arrived Friday morning that Rev S F Rogers former pastor of the Christian church here has died at his North Salem home. He passed away late Thursday evening in a sudden death with cause not learned. Funeral services will be held Saturday.
A Wednesday sale transferred the C. S. Interurban Ry. right of way and franchises to J. W. Black J. G. Gordon and Ransom Myers. Purchasers say the deal was unexpected but view it as a solid investment.
Clem Ratcliff has leased Alexander's opera house and will begin moving picture shows tomorrow night. The idle machine will be shown to a likely good crowd as the new proprietor opens the venue.
Mrs. Mary J. Cook of Harveysburg, a longtime resident, proudly notes she cut her wisdom teeth in her 79th year. She remains hale and active, enjoying life to the utmost.
Drs. C. C. Wert A. L. Ratcliff and F. S. Cuthbert traveled to Kramer yesterday for the annual Indiana Medical Association gathering held in the large hotel at the Indiana Mineral Springs.
A vaudeville company performs before the footlights at the Kingman opera house on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday nights next week.
Wm Struniga appeared in the county seat on Tuesday marking a local government or civic event.
Misses Mae Dagger and Della McCauley visited relatives near Newtown for Thanksgiving. Mrs. Viola Day and her son from Orange County were guests of Allie McCord. The Thanksgiving social at E M Cox’s last Friday night drew a large crowd and earned royal praise for the hosts. Kingman stores advertise a vast Christmas toy display and a strong selection from Spencer.
