Legacy of William Ratcliff A Pioneer of Wabasha Valley
William Ratcliff born November 30, 1831 in Park County Indiana to pioneer John Ratcliff. He married Mary Catharine Ewbank on July 16, 1854 and they had eleven children, with nine surviving to adulthood across generations. He helped start the baby beef industry, ran a water powered saw mill, later owned the family farm, and was a Mason active in Harveysburg Wallace and Kingman lodges. He died April 4, 1913 after a long decline, leaving a wide surviving family and grandchildren.
