A tall tale in which Mr. Cobblesbury fears burglars after tucking $500 from John Spriggs away. The family debates alarms weapons and plans as they prepare with pepper, fire tongs, a razor, garden hose, popguns, and a revolver while debating sleep and safety.
An 19th century note recounts Dr Franklin as exceptionally gallant even in old age. Poore recalls a Library Paris document in French about a promise of a kiss from Mme Helvetius as Franklin sought favor at the house of Mr Turgot.
