Canton D Oct 27 Mrs E P Parmer who was declared insane and placed in Yankton asylum saw her three children returned to the Sioux Falls Children's Home. She forcibly took them to Canton then drove away with them prompting the officers to reclaim the children amid her protests. She objected to schooling and social interaction, vows to keep them in solitary confinement, and officials plan action to restrain her continued interference.
Contracts for the city hall addition, the School of Mines expansion, and the Rapid City gas plant were awarded to J. T. Garland of Deadwood. The Mines building costs between 13000 and 14000 dollars, measures 52 by 75 feet, two stories high, funded by last legislature. The gas plant, to be brick built, will reuse some ruined machinery from the old plant and attract eastern capital. The city hall contract was shifted to Garland after the original bidders Black & Surtta were found to underperform, with plans for a single story but expandable to add a second.

Burt Rogers wins $3,350 against Gladiator Mining Red Cloud Mining Gold Fish Mining and Cephas H Crabtree in a breach of contract suit over unissued stock. Judgments allocate $1,350 against Red Cloud and Crabtree and $850 against Gladiator and Crabtree and $1,350 against Gold Fish and Crabtree.
Yankton high school was defeated 35 to 0 by Vermillion in a Saturday football game here. Wood, Yankton fullback, starred with several end runs while Newby, Yankton halfback, earned praise for his performance. Both teams played hard and clean for the spectators.

Washington, Oct 26. Investigators say five senators and several congressmen are implicated in a vast timber land fraud ring. The scheme allegedly used false land entries to seize millions of acres in California, Oregon, Washington, and Montana. Secretary Hitchcock orders prosecution and seizure of stolen lands pending evidence.
James Daley, 20, spent nine years at Elmira reform school and Sing Sing after truancy. He left prison last Wednesday and fears streets, electric cars, and elevators. Daley says his family abandoned him, and he now struggles to understand ordinary city life.
John Alexander Dowie his wife and son arrived in Boston from New York in a private car. Dowie denied plans to sail for Australia, saying he would return to New York this afternoon. Reports from New York claimed he planned to go to Australia next April with his wife already ahead, and he would join her in Adelaide.
London October 2. W H Lever of Birkenhead denied plans to contest the America cup yet has asked designer George L Watson to design and supervise a challenger. Watson has not yet decided, and Lever may not act without him.
Fort Riley becomes the scene of a simulated engagement as Colonel Steever leads engineers Sixth and Twelfth Infantry, a Fourth cavalry squadron, and two artillery batteries to defend the fort against Carr's force of Missouri Nebraska Texas regiments and regular troops. The exercise aims to test defenses and junctions between blue forces amid a spirited hill battle near the fort.
In Arabia a revolt by two Arab tribes against a new tax code killed the governor Arabi and the province's Agly commandant Ahmet Pasha, with about 1000 Turkish troops killed or wounded and Turkish forces routed. In Macedonia the Austro Russian joint control plan lacks German and Italian support as diplomats clash.

Wheat Nos 2 and 4 bids mixed with No 2 yellow, rye and malted products noted. barley and oats listed with varied futures and cash quotes. Prices for pork and creamed products appear steady with limited movement. market positions reflect demand in Minneapolis and nearby markets.
A man named McClure killed his seven year old and a younger child after a dispute over his wife leaving him. He fled to avoid lynching, then surrendered at Marion Jail. He described the drive to the fence corner where the killings occurred and claimed revenge, leading to his arrest.
A runaway tire car on a Chicago incline plummeted, killing a boy and injuring others. Motorman Boursy fell and was aided by Anna Westberg who jumped clear. At the hill’s foot Peter Sharp was struck as the car smashed into a dwelling, fracturing the home and killing Sharp. Mrs. Hollstein escaped, climbing out through debris.
Ten workers died and four were injured in a cave in the roof and earth of the roof and wells subway tunnel at 90th street. The dead include Timothy, William, Schue, Giuseppe Barone, Stanzoine Brune, Louis Tipio, and five unidentified laborers. Coroner Jackson and officials say the accident was due to negligence by the county building contractor John B. McDonald and supervision by Rufus C. Hunt and Richard Beyers.

In a dramatic pursuit near Burton and OcheG mined chase, five men were captured and jailed at a local fortress. Names listed include James Olson KH Johnson Thomas Frank Harwood and Johnren wounded with a gunshot to the arm. The incident followed a bank raid along the Arkansas river.
