In a November report Gen Benet, chief of ordnance, says the bureau spent 1,507,882 last fiscal year and produced 41,108 rifles and carbines at the national armory. Garland has sent justice department appropriations estimates for the year ending June 30, 1800, about 200,000 higher, with increases for prisoner support 75,000 and district attorney fees 25,000.

Manitoba Got a Setback in Crossing Case

Wisxtres Oct. 31 Justice Killam sustained the injunction won by the Canadian Pacific Railroad to stop the Northern Pacific from crossing CPR tracks. The ruling says consent from the Privy Council railway committee is needed, unlikely soon. The decision blocks Manitoba’s local process and CPR vows to press on against opposition.

Captain Jacobson and one sailor from the Norwegian vessel Saga, wrecked near Cayman Island on September 17 during a Montevideo to Ship Island voyage, arrived Jamaica sick after two weeks on Cayman. They fought off 200 naked wreckers and subsisted on coconuts for two weeks before sailing to Jamaica in a twenty ton sloop. They reached Jamaica on October 7.

Disaster Fire Ravages Hotel and Offices in Green

Indiana Burglars Loot Franklin and Train Capture

A string of burglaries in Franklin near Connersville, Indiana, Saturday night stole clothing jewelry and cash totaling about 1200 dollars. The bandits tried to move their haul to Connersville by freight last night but were spotted on the train. A bundle with several hundred dollars in stolen goods was left behind. Officers pursued the suspects who were recognized by residents.
