City Dads Do Business At Year End Council
The old council adjourned sine die after clearing bills and unfinished work. The new council reorganized with G D Rose joining the finance committee. Maynard urged street cleanliness, uniform grades on Main Street, and first class crosswalks while supporting a meter system for water service. Petitions for crosswalks and water main taps were granted, and a bicycle sidewalk rule was debated and partially adopted for South Main Street. The Scott Hayes grade received first reading and Guaptic named city paper. Street curbs and enforcement actions were assigned to the marshal.

Inter-State National Guard Association Ends Work in Columbus
The Inter-State National Guard Association finished its Columbus Ohio session Tuesday and adjourned to meet in St Augustine Florida in January. Gen Charles A Dick was elected president with Gen S J Conklin of South Dakota as vice president. Resolutions urged Congress to set a 45 enlisted men and 3 officers minimum per unit and urged mobilization, joint camps, and $2 million annual guard funding.

Uncle Sam Takes a Hand in Letter Interference Case
Deputy United States Marshal Petrie took John Engbard into custody Tuesday for opening a letter addressed to Bred Iange from B. L. Drury. Engbard appeared before U S Commissioner Tidrick, who released him on $200 bail while his decision is reserved for ten days. Engbard is brother to Mrs Runge amid family estate disputes of their late father Peter Engbard. Testimony showed Engbard tore open the envelope in Runge's presence but did not remove the letter.
