An advertisement seeks an am tdd about 20 who is a churchman with knowledge of food education and animal care. Duties include driving a horse, assisting in stable and garden, milking cows, feeding pigs, and rising early. Wage 3500 per year. lodging and meals except dinner provided by the worker.
In Armour, the libel action of K G Foster against Johnson Bros dominates the court docket. Foster alleges false statements about his character and bank dealings tied to a failed tank and past electoral campaign. Johnsons claim they acted to inform voters and defend their business history.
Local club women completed preparations for the sixth annual gathering of the State Federation of Woman's Clubs in Huron South Dakota. The Congregational church will host the opening session with Mrs Annie A Lumley state president arriving from Pierre and staying with Mr and Mrs A Riegel. Delegates and visitors are anticipated in substantial numbers with extensive hospitality planned.
Annual exercises last evening featured Ben Hur Charlot Race and Gypsy Chorus pieces. Hon. M P Greeley gave the address, diplomas were presented by President Frazee, and graduates include John Raymond Babb through Eva Josephine Wilson with the music department led by Gertrude Colburn and Eva R Keeling.

In Deadwood South Dakota on June 12 a court ruling by Judge Rice suggests the county commissioners may proceed with constructing a new county courthouse without a public vote. The proposed building will cost no less than $75,000 and is expected to be undertaken this season.
Sioux Indians in South Dakota win grading contracts for the Chicago Milwaukee and St Paul railway extension from Chamberlain to the Black Hills. A crew of 25 Sioux from Crow Creek agency work on the Missouri River island, under U S Indian agent Major H C Chamberlain and agency employee John Van Patter, with Louis Loudon securing further Sioux labor for grading. The effort signals a shift from traditional roles as warriors to productive labor on reservations and elsewhere.
Sioux Falls June 7 A fine new church completed by the First Congregational Church society in Bonesteel was dedicated today. Dedication was led by Rev W H Thrall of Huron. The building cost about 4000 dollars and Rev J Arthur Smith will serve as pastor.
The Pierre weather bureau reports May rainfall at 4.23 inches with a single light shower and drizzle interludes. Soil absorbed most moisture and crop conditions improve for the state session beginning June first, with vegetations in better shape.
In Pukwana South Dakota June, Fred Nelson an 11 year old son of Hans Nelson a local farmer drowned while bathing in a pond eight miles north of Pukwana He was crossing the pond for the third time when cramps struck and he disappeared beneath seven feet of water before help could reach him His two companions were unable to save him.
Students in Pierre have deposited over 2.00 in the National Bank of Commerce through the school savings system. The program turns pennies and nickels into a growing fund with little withdrawals, showing significant year end growth and a total deposit of 2 003 175.
