Several hundred representative farmers and business men from Oconee county gathered in Richland on Monday September 18 for an annual jubilee. J Paul Stribling highlighted the association’s early achievements including raising cotton prices from 64 cents to over 9 tenths of a dollar per pound, with farmers holding cotton since January earning about $20 a bale. F J Hyatt and Dr D Smith spoke on the movement’s claims and prospects, predicting cotton prices may rise to 12 to 14 cents within sixty days. Jetendent J J Anderson of the Blue Hide Railway received from President RH Mull of the State Press Association a copy of a resolution praising the Blue Hide road for hospitality during a West trip. A special election will be held October 2, 2005 in Oconee County to decide the question of Dispensary or No Dispensary. Polls open 7 am to 4 pm at all precincts. The notice lists appointed election managers for each precinct, with many names across Seneca Westminster Walhalla Clemson College and other locales. The election officials are authorized to organize by appointing a chair and administering oaths.
