Fragmented North American miscellany and society notes

A jumble of names, places, and events appears in a fragmented column. References include Atlanta, Walhalla Hotel, a mayor with a red-painted flag, Lofty mentions of Roosevelt and 1920s figures, marriages of Alea and Mary Donalson Wilcox, and distant notes on fortunes and ancestry. The text is garbled but hints at social pages, opinions, and local scandals.

Election Yet in Oconee on Dispensary Vote

Petitions requesting a Dispensary election in Oconee were checked against registration books by Supervisor Hobson and Rev. C Wardlaw on Monday and Tuesday. About 3 400 bona fide electors remain from 4 451 qualified in spring 1904 after subtracting deceased or departed voters. The board will revise the books in coming days and one fourth of qualified electors must request an election. Officials found 223 signatures short of the required threshold, delaying any order for October 7. Wardlaw leads renewed efforts to push the movement, with petitions out awaiting responses.
