In Macon Georgia two prominent white men were shot by two Black assailants at the city fair grounds as crowds gathered. A mob seized a suspect, police intervened, and the prisoner was moved to safety. reports say a race riot may spread with militia possible.
October 7 report from Charlotte notes superintendent Rubanks of Laneroa To and Jones contractors on the Southern Railway were shot and killed by Oscar Gaddy, a Negro, at railway camps near Lexington. Gaddy, pursued by armed men with bloodhounds, faces possible lynching if captured. A related shooting of Foreman Beacham in the same community is mentioned.
