William G Paden of Westminster died at home from typhoid fever last Wednesday evening. He was senior partner of W. G. Paden & Co., a leading Westminster merchant and civic leader. Survived by wife and four children, with interment at Westminster Cemetery at 3:30 p.m. led by Rev. M. I. Peabody.

An explosion at the Jumbo mines twenty miles from Antlers Olda injured several workers. Five men were pinned at the mouth of the shaft while nine were buried at depths from 226 to 200 feet. Four men were blown out, one later found consciousness lost. Rescuers worked all day to free and account for the crew with eight survivors brought out by night.
