Willian W. Jones Widow Seeks Admin on Waterloo Estate
Relatives of the late Rev. Willian W. Jones who died March 7 at his Waterloo home seek letters of administration on his state and effects. The estate chiefly consists of gold coin, including $1,800 in $20 pieces, stored in a safe and a water bolt. Five and a half pounds of gold were moved to Laurena bank and partly deposited. much of the treasure was kept in a safe place at home. Jones, long a member of the South Carolina Methodist Conference, lived frugally after becoming superanuated and distrusted others with his money. He once deposited money in a bank that later failed, drawing out holdings before closure. The story notes decades of savings and cautious stewardship.
