Progress of the Carolina and Tennessee Southern Railway
J Bis Ray of Burnaville in Yancey county reports Charlotte news on June th about the Carolina and Tennessee Southern Railway. The line would run Knoxville Tennessee to Walhalla, with segments finished from Walhalla north to Frankilo and from Knoxville to a Little Tennessee river point. Grading is nearly done except about 10 miles near Franklin and seven miles along the Little Tennessee river. Bailey & Co of Waycross Georgia own land along the river and oppose locat ion due to water power values. If not for the ongoing lawsuit the unfinished 17 miles could be completed in eight months, but the dispute likely pushes completion to eighteen months. Southern refuses to finish until the suit is settled.
