An attentive Hopewell congregation heard Key Harmon preach on Matthew 28 10. Visitors Mr and Mrs Arthur Suit from West minster, Mrs Daly Jonkson and children joined in, along with other locals. Last Sunday rainouts paused Sunday school for the first time in the area. Local visits include Miss Earlie Kelley and Bennie Knox with Miss Ethel Smith, and others from Hartwell and Greenville. Juan Alfonso and Princess Ena’s Madrid wedding and bomb attack are reported with treaty terms noting a 450,000 peseta annual grant and renunciation of British succession rights.
New Hope residents are told there will be all day services next Sunday June 10 with Sunday school at the usual hour and preaching by the pastor. The Sunday school feature will be by Solicitor J E Boggs of Pickens and song services led by Prof Garrett and D Burns of Pickens along with others. Neighbors noted visits and family updates from Mrs S A Gantt of Liberty Sallie and other relatives in the area.
The Board of County Commissioners will open bids Monday 18th 1908 at 11 am at Walhalla Court House for installing a pump and gasoline engine at the county jail and repairing the jail water system. Plans are on file with the County Commissioners. Bonds equal to the contract price are required for faithful performance. The right to reject any or all bids is reserved.
