Pat Patten Quits Wheat Brokerage For Retirement
Chicago May 26 The private settlement of Theodore Waterman and Patten holdings in May wheat triggered a sharp price drop as eight million bushels of September wheat were sold off. Patten and his firm withdraw after generations of service and announce a temporary retirement effective July. The day marked a notable moment in Chicago board of trade history with declines from six to five cents in May and September contracts. Patten admitted defeat saying he knows nothing about the market while a junior partner notes the bears won the contest.
