Oconee Floods Wreck Bridges and Crops Across County
Flooding began Friday night and lasted over four hours, washing away bridges on Little River and Change Creek. Crops along rivers suffered 20 to 60 percent damage, with O’Dell mill dam breached and stock saved only after grim effort. Rail service disrupted as Southern Railway bridges and tracks were washed out, forcing Blue Ridge and other lines to reroute through Anderson and Greenwood. Damages to bridges and conveyances are extensive, with many spans collapsed and roads submerged.
