Unfavorable House Action On School Textbook Probe
The Columbia Record notes the House today blocked a plan to investigate recent changes in school textbooks and the state system. A committee report favored a bill requiring that textbook changes be approved by a majority of county superintendents of education before state board adoption. A separate amendment by J M Daniel of Greensico seeks to restrict textbook changes without local approval. A special order was set for Tuesday to consider the long debated measure.
