A group of three black youths from Walhalla Inst Wook, Pig Mickler Bigby and Elisha Glork, fled after assaulting a white boy near town. They rode a train toward Atlantic. Mickler was killed, Rigby injured, Bigby hurt but recovering, Clarke injured. Grandson of J B Palmer reported. A warrant issued. train No 85 from Seneca.
Seneca Jan 22 T I Stribling avoided a major loss when a kitchen fire started at his home during dinner. Firefighters and a brave local crew contained the blaze, traced to a stove spark, and saved the residence. Also noted are social items: upcoming marriage of Miss Olivia Bacon and J J Daniel, and a library association meeting with Dr E G Doyle’s address.
