Carmichael Confesses to Browning Murder and Self Destruction
In Carthage Michigan on Jan 11 Reverend John H Carmichael confessed to killing Gideon Browning and later killed himself at a boarding house. He recounts a hypnotic influence by his wife and Browning, detailed in a ten page letter to Mr Waggonstein of Port Huron. Carmichael arrived Friday night, was taken into custody after slitting his throat, and died at noon. His wife denies knowledge of hypnosis as claimed in the confession.

Plaintiffs stockholders of Seminole Securities sue Seminole Securities Company Southern Life Insurance Company and several individuals and banks in Oconee County South Carolina. The summons summons complaint and temporary restraining order with a rule to show cause were filed December 19 1908 with the clerk of the Court of Common Pleas Walhalla. Plaintiffs attorney R T Jaynes notes the case and dates January 6 1909.
