Death of Capt J L Shanklin near Richland
Capt J L Shanklin died at his Richland home after a lingering illness of old age. Born near Pendleton about eighty years ago he served as a lawyer legislator and soldier winning the rank of Captain and sometimes acting brigadier general. He represented Anderson and later Oconee in the General Assembly and both houses after moving to Richland. Survived by wife Julia Doyle and three sons Mason G Shanklin Clemson and J S M G Shanklin. funeral at Hoole Springs Methodist Church led by Rev G T Harmon Jr.
