Murder Fatal Duel Over Drink Sparks in Gilesville

In Gilesville on January 17 a family feud ended in a shooting. Worley, 25, was killed by his brother Leonard, 30, after drinks and a dispute. They returned home, retrieved guns, and two shots were fired at close range outside the younger Worley’s home, killing the older man as he stood.

Murder at Perry Ends Mrs. Bailey's Life

Information reached Alkon tily afternoon of the killing of Mrs. Henry Bailey at Perry around o'clock sunrise. Reports state there were two alleged causes. one saying Henry Bailey fired the gun from a wall rack, the other contradicting it, with Bailey’s shot allegedly causing Mrs. Bailey’s death shortly after. It is noted Henry Bailey previously killed a negro years ago and was pardoned by Governor Vile.

Wedding at Presbyterian Church for Miss Kirkpatrick and Lowry

Murder Near Dunham Shocks Granville County

In Granville county near Dunham a brutal arson and triple murder occurred at the Sanders home. Neighbors found the charred bodies of Miss Mary Sanders, her father J. L. Sanders, and the granddaughter. A neighbor identified a bloody knife as linked to suspect Montague, who fled toward Durham after a cross country chase. Gardner Dies After Bout at Nonpa Vet Athlete Club

Edward Gardner aged 21 from a Nebraskan town died in hospital after a boxing match with John Kath 22 at the Nonpa Vet Athlete Club. Gardner never regained consciousness following a knockout that fractured his skull in the final count.

Bluford G. Burne Dies at Home in Barksdale County
