Baptist State Convention Elects Officers at Anderson
The Baptist Ministers Conference of South Carolina met at Anderson's Ue Piet Baptist Church on Monday the 6th at 7 30 pm fully attended. Rev Heb Bagot of Irland was elected president and Rev HK Williams of Velyer secretary. The convention heard reports on missions and education, with a total year’s giving of 146,989 40 across foreign and state missions, orphanages, and ministerial education. A plan was approved to raise 141,300 next year for missions and benevolent causes.

Tax collection notices and penalties announced for 1909
Walhalla county treasurer announces the 1909 tax collection period from October 16 to December 31 with penalties starting January 1, 1910. A 1 percent penalty in January, 2 percent in February, and 7 percent from March 1 to March 15 apply for late payments. Taxes not paid will be executed by the sheriff. Tax receipts requested in each township or special school district. Levy details: state tax, ordinary county tax, special county roads and bridges, interest and sinking fund, and school tax.
