Pardoned Slayer Thwarts Nashville Murder Case
Nashville, April 13. A sensational pardon by Governor Patterson released Col Dune tun Ds. Cooper and son Robin Cooper for the 1908 Carmack murder in Nashville. The decision, coming after a Tennessee Supreme Court verdict, split the court 8 to 2, reversing the lower court and remanding for further action. The pardon, issued without a formal petition, sparked intense political reaction among temperance factions and opponents of Prohibition.
