Thos Lebhart Confesses In Black Hand Letter Plot
Cincinnati April 9 Thos Lebhart aged 17 of Dayton Ohio confessed he wrote a letter to Reynolds & Reynolds stoners of Dayton demanding 200 from the Black Hand Society under threat of death. He was sentenced to thirteen months in Leavenworth penitentiary by United States Judge Thompson. Gebhart said the letter stemmed from the abduction of Billy Whitla of Sharon Massachusetts. A fake package was left on a lonely road where Gebhart planned to collect the money and was arrested there. Also noted were US export figures for corn products and a White House appointment where Spencer J Adams was named Commissioner of Internal Revenue succeeding John G Capers.
