Earl Quackenbush assists Emmett Rumsey at the farm this week as they manage chores and field work together on the rural property.
John Deal harvests about 4 000 bushels of corn on his Keota homestead and nearby fields, selling the first 4 000 bushels to C O Dodder of Keota Lumber Co at 65c a bushel. He plans further sales or use, with a total crop around 4 000 bushels across 140 acres. He emphasizes summer tillage and notes varieties, planting dates, and past farming experience with J Sterling Morton. Local residents visited. H McQuiston left for Iowa after a weekend with his father.
C H Dickey of Honolulu Hawaii arrived in Keota for a visit with sister Mrs V Belle Wallace and niece Miss S E Wallace. After about two weeks he will go to Chicago with Mrs Wallace. This is his second Keota visit. Dickey has lived in the Hawaiian Islands forty years and is a lawyer who served five terms in the territorial legislature as senator and representative.
Bessie Lewis celebrated her birthday with Mrs Hank and family and others at a Sunday gathering. The day featured a fine dinner and several visits across Keota including Mrs H Flagler at Ashdowns and Robys. Local voting noted George Schoorover’s first ballot in Raymer precinct.
