Mrs. Alex Rohn suffered facial and arm scalds when a pail of coffee with a tight cover blew its lid off as she prepared to remove it at the Alex Betz home. Her daughter Olinda, a Keota high school student, returned home to help as her mother recovered.
Snowbound road conditions forced postponement of the January 27 Rural Credit and Improvement meeting. Mayor Louis Allen of New Raymer calls the Keota F and M Hall gathering for February 8 at 2 p.m. to discuss rural credits road improvement and other public matters in northeastern Weld County. Delegates from Pawnee district communities schools banks and farmers elevators are invited.
Weld County News reports the Madden Road Law once pushed by A. E. Madden is revived by Abbey and Harbaugh. The bill aims to spend a fixed percentage of district road taxes with minimal administration cost, keeping county road and bridge oversight centralized.
Harmony Grange held its first regular meeting of the year in Plainview Community Hall ten miles southwest of Keota with twenty nine members. Officers elected took seats and a library was voted in with Worthy Lecturer Parsons as librarian. Five membership applications were acted upon as a literary program ran about forty five minutes. Coffee and cake followed the business session and the group enjoyed a good time. New officers include Master Charles Bosma and Secretary O G Pierce. Visiting grangers welcome.
Letter from E. M. Olds of Keota urges county division and county seat shift toward Keota. He praises local boosters, notes land improvements, and pledges backing if agriculture and coal development follow. Wagner advances Olds five dollar Pawnee County Club draft as booster fee.
Birth announced for a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Sam Potter in Independence Iowa on January 14. Buckingham friends and relatives gathered. several residents visited kin in Colorado and Denver. Colorado A M College animals win at the National Western Stock Show with 54 premiums from 39 swine entries.
The issue was delayed due to the editor's illness and the publisher's absence during part of the week. On his return, other pressures from job printing and work caused the delay. The notice hopes such circumstances do not recur.
