Will Breed Bates Strain Shorthorn Cattle

Frank and Earl Quackenbush and W. A. Burkey purchase a pure bred Bates strain Shorthorn bull from M. O. Wilson of Lucerne. The two year old animal costs a thousand dollars and twelve hundred dollar set, arriving early May to join their fifty head herd on the Oscar Quackenbush farm. They may later add registered heifers to raise pure Bates strain cattle.

New Family Moves to Stevens Farm Near Keota

Mr and Mrs J A Chambers and four children arrive Tuesday to settle on the P O Stevens farm five miles northwest of Keota. They came from Bethany Nebraska with immigrant movables and farming gear. no cattle are brought as they plan to buy locally. F N Hetrock of Lincoln Nebraska accompanies them and may settle at Keota. he is Chambers sister in law s brother in law. Good shelled corn at elevator 8325 per cwt. Jazz Orchestra to Play for Keota Dance

The Rocky Mountain Society of Five from Cheyenne will perform at a dance in Keota F. and M. Hall on Thursday evening April 15. George T. Wilson organizes the event for local youths and hopes to spark interest in a Keota stringed orchestra. Old favorites and new dances will be featured, promising a lively evening for dancers.

Weld County road policy and two million bridge bond proposal

The Weld County Publishers Association backs a new road building approach with a county road supervisor on duty since last summer. Commissioner J W Birkle argues for raising funds, noting only about 50 dollars per mile for roads and predicting nearly two million dollars needed for bridges soon. He favors issuing two million dollars in county bonds drawn as needed to finance road work, stressing bonds are common for waterworks and schools and should be used for roads to maximize value.

No New Faces at Keola City Council Election

The Keola town council will have no new members until Dr. Olson qualifies as mayor. Twenty nine of fifty votes were cast. Gibson Stanley and Wagner were elected to two year terms, D. E. Byrne holds over. The council notes Mayor Markley refused a second term after a term of free town work.
