The Seventh Annual Brood Mare and Colt Show will be held at Wilson's Grove near the local compress in Lexington on August 25. County Agent T M William announces a revised prize list with lighter classes to boost county prizes for saddle stock breeders. A $50 cash prize will be awarded by a random draw after judging, with the prize possibly divided later. Negro burglar held under $1000 bond
James Defell a 15 year old negro was brought before Judge G D McCaleb and placed under a $1000 bond awaiting grand jury action. County Attorney Pat Barrett said he confessed robbing several homes and claimed he disposed of money and coins in a creek. He had previously left town as a robbery suspect and served six months in Memphis for petit larceny.

A Fourth of July celebration is planned at Pickens at the new playground project and community center near Grape's Camp on Highway 51.
