Infantile paralysis reported in Holmes County
Two cases of infantile paralysis were reported in Holmes County, both Negro children from the Ebenezer community. Dr. L H Eubanks cites a nationwide rise and suggests a viral cause, with carriers possible without symptoms. The Holmes County Chapter of the National Foundation was organized, naming Ellen Seale as chair and listing other officers and members at a City Hall meeting.

Sutton Electrocuted For Serious Case In Holmes County Jail
Wilburn Sutton twenty year old Black man was executed by electric chair at 7 20 Friday morning after being condemned for the May 3 robbery and assault in Holmes County. The chamber was prepared, witnesses present, and clergy offered prayer as 2 800 volts were applied. Doctors confirmed death three minutes forty five seconds after the first shock. Sutton had lived in the area and worked locally before moving to Indianola two years prior.

WPA Cuts Close Lexington Durant Sewing Rooms
Three WPA sewing rooms in Lexington and Durant will close on June 30 under Washington orders. The state cuts about 0 400 WPA workers and 150 administrators. Ten local women workers in Lexington and Durant will lose jobs, plus 21 women in the House Keeping Aide project. County supervisor Miss Lillian Rathell notes another sanitation project ends, affecting about 15 men.
