Huge Gas Compressor Unit Near Pickens Begins This Week
A large gas compressor project for Southern Natural Gas near Pickens starts this week. A. M. Lockett and Co. of New Orleans is contracted to install five 1250 hp units at a site near Pickens. About 150 to 200 workers will build the station over five to six months, with rail spur tracks under construction. The project, costing hundreds of thousands to millions, aims to boost regional gas capacity and local materials are being sourced. A detailed program will be announced.
