Vigilant Neighbor Captures Local Burglary Suspect
Mrs. R C Moore alerted by a dinner hour intrusion captured James Defell, a 15 year old local resident, after he entered the Latham home while owners were away at Rotary in Cleveland. He allegedly admitted breaking into about twenty homes in recent weeks. Lawmen and residents gathered as he hid in a kitchen closet until found by Moore and Marshal McRae. Authorities question him further as records indicate prior break ins and travel to Chicago before returning to Lexington.

Passenger Service to Be Discontinued Between Durant and Aberdeen
Illinois Central Railroad officials announced suspension of passenger service on the Durant Aberdeen line due to a 50 percent drop in revenue last year. Mail express and baggage service will continue on Sundays while the passenger run ends. One man, Henry Howard, was attacked by Jesse Thompson in a street fight. Thompson was arrested and charged with cutting. The injuries to Howard were not grave and no fatalities were anticipated.

Freddie Miller of the Economy Store has contracted N. P. Drennan to remodel the storefront adding two entrances and three window displays. Dog Lost and Found Ad Sparks Notice in Town
Mack Ellington of Acona lost his fox terrier at the Jaycee Carnival. He placed an ad in The Advertiser, and word spread quickly. Despite efforts, the dog remained out of reach of circulation until a reader named John Drennan helped.
