Scouts Win Camp Kickapoo Banner at Camp
The Boy Scouts of Lexington Troop No. 64 won the Camp Kickapoo banner and displayed it at Peoples Drug Store after returning home Monday. With over 60 percent attendance and their Scoutmaster, Rev. Judson Chastain, they earned 300 points and dominated events including the Adventure Trail and swimming meets led by Robert Lyon, Jimmy Chastain, Billy Herring, and Paul Me Daniel.

Daily Vacation Bible School Starts Friday in Lexington
All Lexington churches join in a two week Vacation Bible School beginning Friday June 21. A 4 pm assembly at the Baptist church and Methodist Educational Building leads to assigned groups with coordinators named. A 5 pm parade around the town square follows, then a city drive and a 5:15 pm return. Classes run 8:30 to 11 am Monday through Friday.

The Junior Chamber of Commerce hosts its annual carnival next Wednesday afternoon starting at 6 at Beall Field. Proceeds go to Lexington School Band debt. Jaycees promote penny pitches and popular concessions with plenty of thrills. Come early and stay late.

National Farm Loan Assn Names Officers in Lexington
The New National Farm Loan Association held its annual stockholders meeting at the Court House in Lexington. Directors elected were Jesse H. Walton N. C. M. Garrard R. M. Ward C. Richardson. Officers chosen were Jesse H. Walton president N. B. Parrish vice president C. W. Carr secretary treasurer and Lela Selby acting secretary treasurer. B B Deane district service manager spoke on improvements including resales of foreclosed farms and reduced delinquencies. The association offers 44 percent loans and serves Holmes and Carroll Counties. Deane explained the Federal Land Bank policy of reserving minerals only on foreclosed resale with proceeds credited to the association to offset losses.

Baby Beef Club Project Underway With Five Steers Purchased
Five 4 H club members form the nucleus of a baby beef project. They bought five blooded Hereford calves from C V Maxwell of Pickens except Edwin Ellison who bought a Texas calf from Ray Lum of Vicksburg. Flower and Vegetable Show Winners Named at Demo Club
The Home Demonstration Flower and Vegetable Exhibit held June 19 at the Wilson Community House drew 112 attendees. Members submitted 11 flower exhibits and 120 vegetable displays judged by Extension Horticulturist R. O. Monosmith. Lexington won most flower placements. Centerville led in vegetables with 22 varieties from 7 members.
