Crowds packed the Lexington courthouse square as Dennis Murphree outlined his record and platform. He highlighted the Pay-A-You-Go budget, community hospital access, and the Murphree Land Plan while defending state governance against centralized control and political bosses.
Warden K H Diggs seeks to have two lakes built and stocked by a county commission with landowner donations up to 1000 acres. If two sites are secured, construction and heating plans proceed. Meanwhile the town shows revival with new homes, renovations, and tidy yards enhancing Siceney.

A large crowd is expected as the popular candidate, renowned lawyer, and eloquent speaker draws supporters county-wide. The county campaign committee invites all residents to attend and bring friends.
The first cotton blossom of the 1945 crop arrived in Lexington Saturday morning, June 15, brought by local businessman and planter Alex Swinney. The bloom came from his Fair Ground property, planted last March, on Express variety. He notes heavy boll weevil infestations threaten older cotton, predicting May plantings may offer the best outlook as weevils cut early growth.
A shipment delivered Monday via air express saved 24 hours in transit. The package, an automobile part for Terry's Garage, came from Detroit to Jackson and was re consign ed to Lexington. This marks the first use of air express to Lexington.
