Miss Geraldine McCall assistant district director of employment WPA and her team surveyed WPA case loads in Lexington at the courthouse on Tuesday. They re examined cases to assess labor availability for highway construction and will file findings with the state WPA office for reporting to the State Highway Department. The crew noted some workers failed to report or receive assignments and some no longer need assistance. They will visit thirteen districts in District No 5 over a day each and return to Holmes County in about three weeks to complete interviews. only those notified will report.

Miss Ellen Seale mailed 160 letters to Holmes County 4-H Club girls announcing the annual camp to be held June 18 to 20 in Sunflower County. One of the largest crowds is expected as the outing includes crafts, recreational and entertainment activities for Holmes County members only.
United States Senate candidate Mike Conner will open his campaign in Holmes County with a speech at Ebenezer on Tuesday June 16 at 2 o clock, announced by the Holmes County Conner Supporters. Conner has been touring south Mississippi this week to garner support as voters prepare for the election.
The Delta Chamber of Commerce meeting named J. T. Thomas Sr and Martin L. Smith to the new Board of Directors with Thomas joining the executive committee. Governor Ware spoke on balancing agriculture with industry as the chief executive’s program. Miss Foster discussed plans for a Wickens exhibit and D. Murtagh hosted her dinner. Herrin proudly announced the birth of Edna Helen Herrin last Friday.
The Lexington Boys Band opens a summer concert series in the courthouse yard led by Director Robert Stephenson. A 35 member local group is aided by visiting college students, with concerts at 7:30 p.m. funded by a $26 monthly city grant through July. Civic groups Rotary and Junior Chamber of Commerce continue to support. Marvin Stanley Jr won a $10 prize for best pupil and attendance. he attended forty rehearsals. 8. A.
