Census bulletin reveals farm numbers rising from 240 in 1920 to 6604 in 1930 while total farm values drop from 19 million to about 9.7 million. Land and buildings fall from 15.8 million to 6.96 million with per farm value down from 8106 to 1470. Hogs, cattle, horses, and crops all decline. cotton is the only crop noted as increasing.
Holmes County health records show 200 pellagra cases to date with a tentative Dr. G J Vaughn survey predicting 400. Delta areas bear ~90 percent of cases, prompting targeted prevention and diet measures. Red Cross yeast requisitions will aid treatment distributed via the health department to physicians. Two teaspoons of powdered yeast three times daily advised for four to ten weeks, with adjustments for children under ten. E D Hill buys Minch Room on Beale Street and faces suit from his niece Jewel Ware and her children Ruby and Charles Ware. Borror departs for Jonesboro Arkansas.
Holmes county agents highlight major feed crop efforts to curb rising farm costs. W. B. Lundy reports yearlong pasturing with hogs and sheep using red clover while oat sowing yields 60 bushels per acre. Archer and Gwin push oats and clover mixes. Beall farms about 200 acres of oats. Alfalfa yields reach 1.5 tons per acre with new growth ready by late June.
Holmes County School Board schedules a June 19 meeting in Lexington to handle routine business and a petition from West districts of Holmes and Attala counties seeking a line consolidated school district. The district would alter or consolidate Howling Green Central Point Emory Lunsford and Northside districts. Board members listed.
D. E. Reynolds of Tehula reports Holmes county farmers plant many acres of soybeans surpassing cotton acreage. With a favorable season the county feed bill should drop as soybeans reduce hay needs. An office note by Mrs Huntington covers duties during the author’s absence Wednesday June 3 to Saturday June 5.

Lexington city will cut bonded indebtedness by 42500 on August 1 1941 with 1500 water bonds and 11000000 sewer bonds from 1911 paid from a sinking fund finalizing the debt to 80000. A 25000 school bond remains with 15000 in sinking fund against 1983 maturities, and total valuation near 1700000.
Herbert Steele plans to leave this week for Memphis to enter Campbell's Clinic for knee cap surgery. The injury followed an automobile wreck about a year ago. Senator Sam Sample of Ebenezer was a visitor in Lexington Monday.
With Dr. H L Martin away in Pelahatchie the Lexington Emptist Church Brotherhood leads Sunday mornings service on June 7 at eleven. The hour's program features a voluntary, doxology, invocation by W C Thompson, scripture Eph 6 10 20 read by J R Williams, Brotherhood Male Quartet, announcements, budget offering, vocal solo by Mrs J M McRae, address The Christian Armor by P M Williams, and benediction with the Brotherhood president presiding. A cordial invitation is extended to the public.
