Two Harvard Illinois families riding in a northbound car were killed when the North Western passenger train struck their vehicle at a misty crossing six miles south of Beloit Wisconsin. The dead are William A Siebel 68 his wife Sarah sister in law Mrs Joseph Jeffers and Jeffers husband Joseph. The car traveling on Highway 51 spun on the tracks and was hit broadside by the Diesel locomotive. The driver was hurled 150 feet from the crossing. The car and occupants were dragged 2 100 feet down the track. The train crew said speed about 60 miles per hour. The Elroy Wisconsin to Chicago train occurred at 8 51 a m CST.
U S Senator Kefauver of Tennessee arrived in New Delhi for conferences with American and Indian officials.
A skunk loosed at the Imperial House Restaurant disrupted a closed American Bankers association session. Police and fire crews opened walls and located the animal, which was killed. Newsmen faced denial at the scene as crowds gathered amid speculation a prankster triggered the mayhem.
Talks between the Kenosha Teachers Union and the Kenosha Education Association resume to seek a salary settlement. The union had authorized a strike if needed, but negotiations were extended to Thursday 7 30 p m to include school board president Joseph Hamelink after a family death.
The Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen announced today a strike vote among members on most U S railroads. President H E Gilbert of Cleveland said when the vote is counted they can strike quickly.
