John R. Early a 37 year old Miami man received a five year state prison sentence from Judge Harry V. Carlson after pleading guilty to arson in a July twin lakes manor fire that gutted a summer home owned by Mr and Mrs John Gordon of Norwood Park Illinois. Early admitted to dousing a bed with gasoline and lighting the blaze to get even with Mrs Gordon after calling her names. Nixon's Father Dead at 77 in California
Frank Nixon father of Vice President Richard M. Nixon died at 11:25 p.m. after a long illness in La Habra California. Hannah Nixon his wife was at his bedside as the elder Nixon aged 77 slipped into a coma. Nixon and his family had been called back from vacation as doctors indicated he could only live a day or two more. He was born in Ohio in 1878 and married Hannah Milhouse in 1908 becoming a Quaker after marriage. Surviving sons are Richard Don and Edward with five Nixon children total.

Madison Woman Dies When Robe Ignores Stove Fire
