A heavy artillery duel raged along Okinawa as Tenth Army strangled the three bastion towns Naha Shuri and Yonabaru. The Six Marine division and three other divisions press closer to Shuri and Naha while Japanese forces hold a stubborn defense of about 34 000 troops. Pfc. Mike Inele 21 son of Mr and Mrs Mike Inele Sr of 5318 Tenth avenue died in Germany after his platoon faced enemy fire while advancing toward a railroad track. He enlisted Jan 31 1943 and went overseas December 1944 serving in England France and Germany. He died April 9 1945 and is buried at Margraten Holland after services by a Catholic chaplain. He is survived by his parents a twin sister and several siblings and step-siblings.
