Roanoke Virginia police charge 16 year old high school wrestler Lee Goode Scott with the murder of Dana Marie Weaver, a 16 year old classmate. Scott gave a statement after hours of questioning and was held without bail as details of the alleged struggle emerge from the parish home crime scene.

Assemblyman Molinaro authored a resolution creating a five member legislative investigat ing committee to study traffic hazards at Highways 41 and 50. The measure, approved by the highways committee, would appoint three assemblymen and two senators to probe the dangerous crossing after three serious accidents. A companion Senate resolution seeks an overhead at Highway 50 and 41.

Federal Judge Harold R. Medina rejected a defense motion for a mistrial as attorneys for 11 top Communists argued misconduct after claiming they had consumed one sixth of the 17 week trial with their arguments. The judge denied the request and left the proceedings intact.
In western Berlin celebrated V E Day as the blockade ended and trains and vehicles prepared to cross into the Soviet zone. Helmstedt and Eilsleben border posts saw first crossings with German officials and reporters as Berlin braced for a massive rush home and to the western farms. The airlift delivered 9,157 tons in 1,019 flights in the 24 hours ending noon.
