Oshkosh Wis The Wisconsin Republican party convention opened with chairman Thomas E Coleman of Madison appealing to endorse the men best qualified. The call aimed to unify support for candidates deemed most capable ahead of the party slate.
Coleman denounces the Progressives as deserting principles to stay in office by political manipulation. He opens an endorsement battle as about 1,600 delegates fill Oshkosh hotels. He warns primary battles may decide the state, accusing office seekers of hyphenated opportunism after leaving their party on March 17.
Four people were injured Friday evening when a head on crash on the curve of old Highway 42 near Birch road left two in critical condition. Witnesses described Stiege and Wheeling blaming each other as both cars suffered extensive damage and four injured received on site aid before hospital transport.
