Three Injured In Ice-Caused Auto Accidents
A stretch of hard packed snow and ice in the county caused three injuries in a series of crashes. Harold W. Shreve 28 of 3808 Fourteenth Ave lost control on Highway 42 near the Racine line and hit a telephone pole after sliding off the road. On Highway 50 two separate crashes injured Felix Rastic 56 of 2713 Seventeenth Ave and Edward R. Jorgensen 42 of Bristol when ice and ruts forced a near head on collision. Rastic was hospitalized with a severe leg cut. A sheriff’s squad car was damaged in a minor crash en route. A third crash on Highway 50 involved Vito Costa 26 of Chicago with a broken nose. A fourth crash on Highway 43 near Hillcrest School left Charles Riley 19 of 6034 Twenty-eighth Ave with his car flipping on icy ruts.
